CIty Drones

Original post made by FAA , Menlo Park: Linfield Oaks, on Aug 20, 2016

City employee Derek Schweigart's report presented to the Council in favor of allowing drones at Bayfront park is amateurish and the Council's response equally so. The FAA guidelines are clear and precise - drones and miniature aircraft are not permitted within 5 miles of an airport. Bayfront park does not meet the standard to allow drone operation, plain and simple. Derek's report is faulty, neglectful and his statement at the Council meeting about drone operators regulating themselves is unprofessional to say the least, Follow the FAA guideline and enforce no drone flying at Bayfront park. The City council and City Manager needs to do a better addressing the job of bogus reports which fail to address safety concerns and FAA. Don't wait for a serious accident (and lawsuit), ban the drones in accordance with FAA regulations. City staff don't get to make up their own rules on this issue. LIsten to the FAA and do your research next time - a little more oversight from the Coincil is obviously needed.
