Spare the Air alert issued for Tuesday

The Bay Area Air Quality Management District has issued a Spare the Air alert for Tuesday because of expected unhealthy air conditions in the region.

Please tell your gardeners that under chapter 8.07 of Menlo Park municipal code, gas-powered leaf blowers may not be operated in Menlo Park on Spare the Air days. Period.

Even on non-Spare the Air days, only "certified" leaf blowers (based on noise output lower than 65 dB) may be used in Menlo Park, but we should at least keep these infernal devices from being used on days when our air quality is truly awful! Thanks.
