Suspected home burglar nabbed after police see strange activity

Original post made on Jun 24, 2016

An attempt by Menlo Park police to talk to the driver of a vehicle whose occupants appeared to be scoping out homes to burglarize in the area of O'Connor Street led to a car and foot chase and the arrest of one of at least two burglary suspects on Thursday.

It would be helpful to ask the PD some questions and clean up their reports before publishing them here. Whatever the merits of our PD officers, they are terrible writers.

Near the beginning of this particular story, the police are pursuing a car with suspicious occupants. The driver runs away. What about the occupants? What about the car? In the next paragraph, two suspects are exiting a house with stolen property. Are these the same people who were in the car, and if so, where are they going? Back to the car that has presumably been impounded? Or did the events actually occur in the reverse order? This timeline makes no sense!

Some real reporting and editing would go a long way toward producing a coherent story.

On parole ... Steve Wagstaffe, "throw the key away"! Chalk another one up to Prop 47...thanks to Bogus DA Gascon in SF. Prop 47 is NOT working. It has turned into a major 'Enterprise Opportunity Zone'!

Would love to see additional info on suspects and arrestees. Such as US citizen and if not are they on valid work visa or do they gave a green card or are they here illegally.

Great work by the Menlo Police Department. My home in Woodside was burglarized last month - thieves took over $25,000 in jewelry and computers. San Mateo County Sherriff's Department took 30 minutes to respond AFTER we got home and discovered the burglary.

Jerry Brown's Prop 47 was a DISASTER for homeowners. In San Mateo County alone, police report a 300% increase in home-invasion robberies since this awful law was approved by voters in 2014.
