It looks as if he was not carrying a gun. Our most recent burglary in PV, they held the occupants at gunpoint. We need to begin passing better laws regarding gun control .
also: it saddens me to know, this man in MP obviously is a drug addict, needs help..hope he gets it in jail. Up to five years? first offense? the first offense sexual assault at Stanford(with intent to rape - as they don't consider what he did as "rape") got what? six months? Can we please get a better handle on fairness in our courts?

Burglary is a very serious crime, but of course we have to consider how negatively a young man will be affected by prison and the lifetime label of felon.
If rapists are getting six months these days, I'd say three or four months for a home invader?
Congrats to the lady for thinking fast and staying safe in what must have been a terrifying situation.

Whether a burglar has a gun, knife or nothing except a bag to haul off their stolen goods, they are terrorizing a homeowner even if the homeowners are not home. A home is a sanctuary for most people and we need to protect our homes in order to have peace of mind. Criminals should pay the price of their crimes as the law dictates and there should be a lesson dealt to those who break the law. As long as there is leniency and criminals know they can get away with their crimes, there will be no decrease in crime and no peace for the victims. Protect innocent law abiding citizens and punish the criminals appropriately so they stop committing crimes.
