It's always tragic when a young or any life is extinguished through speed and, perhaps, recklessness. Skyline is the scene of almost perpetual "sideshow" type behaviors involving speed trial types of activity. The "Century club' is well known (average 100 mph from La Honda Rd to Page Mill Rd)and is clearly evidenced by the sounds of speeding vehicles (often motorcycles) as they progress along the roadway. I live about 1 mile from Skyline and often hear the sounds of the racing, often souped up, vehicles that are quite clear.
This is particularly common on weekends and evenings. It would be helpful if our sheriffs department would take a more proactive approach to patrolling this roadway to cut down on the speeding and behaviors that endanger both the speeders and other drives.

So sad for this family.

It is very sad when a life is lost in an accident of any kind. Skyline is a dangerous and caution needs to be used by all drivers.

Probably an unfortunate coincidence, but Tom Stienstra's column in today's Chronicle is about reckless drivers turning Skyline into their own private racetrack. Families who are trying to visit the open space preserves along the road are collateral damage. On bicyclist was hospitalized after being run down by a pack of motorcycles, who fled the scene and left him there with broken bones (CHP is asking the public for tips about this case).
