Today: Menlo Park celebrates solar power installations

Solar panel installations at the Arrillaga Family Gymnasium and Gymnastics Center, the city corporation yard and the Onetta Harris Community Center in Menlo Park have been completed. To celebrate, the city is hosting a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 4 p.m. Thursday, April 28.

Can the reporter confirm that the solar panels are actually providing power to all of the City buildings where the panels are located? I talked to one of the workers and was told that the panels installed on the Arrillaga Gymnastics center roof are going to power City Hall, and the Gymnastics Center is receiving none of the solar benefits. "These solar installations will offset about 80 percent of the current PG&E energy use at each of the buildings where solar panels were installed". Maybe..maybe not.
