If you missed this panel you may wish to attend the upcoming event on Feb 29 in San Mateo:
The response from StarVista's Navigating the Tides of Adolescence panel
discussion on teen mental health and suicide prevention last fall has been
tremendous, and we have received multiple requests from schools across San
Mateo County to host a similar discussion. We are happy to announce that
StarVista, in partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education and
the San Mateo Union School District, will present the next Navigating the
Tides of Adolescence panel discussion, featuring Julie Lythcott-Haims,
author of the highly acclaimed book, "How to Raise an Adult;" Stanford child
psychiatrist Dr. Steven Adelsheim; and Gunn parent Kathleen Blanchard, on
Monday, February 29, from 7 to 8:30 pm at Hillsdale High School. The panel
will be moderated by Rachael Myrow of KQED.Following is a link to registration:

I appreciate this event but nothing is going to change until the school's stop assigning 3 hours of homework every night. Kids can't get enough sleep with one afterschool activity and crazy homework levels.

The San Mateo County School Boards Association is hosting a all day conference on mental health for school leaders in April. Community members may also attend this event. Go to the San Mateo County School Boards Association website for details. There is a fabulous line-up of keynote speakers. Encourage principals and other administrators to attend.

Actually finding ways to bring together peer and professional support is also a critical new frontier and its matter.
