Now it's becoming clear why Peter supported the massive (oversized) development on El Camino. The developers will be getting out their checkbooks.

Peter never supported massive or oversized development on El Camino. No council member supported or group supported massive or oversized development on El Camino. More importantly, 2014's Measure M did nothing to alter the size or height of any development along El Camino. Measure M was only a limit the amount of office space per development. The Downtown Specific Plan does limit the size and height of development along El Camino.

Dave Price got it wrong in his Opinion piece in today's Daily Post, he states, "A bi-partisan approach... in an interview last night (Ohtaki) emphasized that he would be a bi-patisan problem solver. That's a fair comment since he has been the only Republican on a five-member council." We aren't proposing that Ohtaki's comment is not fair, only that Price has no idea what he's talking about. Don't let the Republican label fool you. Peter is about as Republican as Trump is a moderate. He's a good guy who works for everyone.

If you only vote for or against someone because of a letter that follows their name, you're probably part of the problem.

Fact Check: Listen up. Ohtaki, along with Keith, Cline, Fergusson tripled the development rights for property owners in the Specific Plan Area (Think Stanford). This allowed both "massive and oversized" developments and with NO public benefits. This all occurred BEFORE Measure M went on the Ballot. Had Measure M passed, office buildings in any single development would have been limited to 100,000 sq ft. So, at the end of the day, El Camino Real would have had more moderate development. Ohtaki was very clear during Specific Plan discussions about public benefits that developers (think Stanford) should not be mandated to provide public benefits.

He actually thought the building permit fees were public benefits.

Makes no difference, Ohtaki may have Republican money but he's fighting an up hill battle being that he's unknown outside of MP and is up against Democrats. Ohtaki is one of those Republicans who loves the private sector, dislikes taxes but isn't shy about asking for public money to pay for infrastructure for a private developer.

Ohtaki's former job was a dubious non profit that got corporate contributions for round table gatherings on disaster preparedness. Ask Ohtaki how the money he raised was spent. He'll tell you that 90% went to his salary. A joke, at best.
