'Some Guy' from 2012 almanac story on this libertarian was prophetic. Worst, most sour-faced mayor in many years and his head in the sand ideas on climate change and disinterest in the town's general plan were epic. Laughable if we weren't crying.

Climate change facts are "fuzzy"?

97% of the world's climate scientists, most of the world leaders, and most people that went to college think the evidence is incontrovertible. There is a reason most of the world leaders were willing to convene in Paris this month to address it.

The other 3% work for the oil industry and or the Koch brothers.

And the purpose of government is "to make sure everyone gets a hearing".

No sorry, the purpose is to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity."

In other words, do the right thing for all people - not just the loudest.

Agree about the watching ice melt comment though... there must be a better way in today's day and age.

Shanahan says "the District 3 seat on the council is seen, … as appropriate for a 'horse person'." That would be Reyering: 35 year resident, owner of equestrian property, major supporter and donor of horse-related activities in Woodside, former board member of the Pony Club and Folger Stable.

The write-in candidate he supported doesn’t even own his own residence.

As with all Town Council seats, the District 3 seat is reserved for the candidate who received the most votes.

Shame this didn't come up until after Shanahan was gone (great reporting, Almanac - not). Especially sad considering what just occurred in Paris, climate change wise. Willful ignorance is pathetic, and dangerous.

Interesting what he said about leadership - he must have missed the memo that members of the TC are supposed to be town leaders.
