Atherton drops permit fee for solar installations

Atherton's City Council made two moves toward becoming a more environmentally friendly town on Nov. 18 when it eliminated the fees for installing solar panels and agreed to look at the ramifications of a proposed climate action plan.

This is great news and I hope neighboring cities follow suit.

It would be interesting to know how solar permit fees of surrounding communities compare to Atherton's soon-to-be-eliminated $526 fee.

That's wonderful. Now if Atherton eliminates permits for installation of water heaters, new roofs, kitchen appliances, plumbing fixtures, etc. I just might buy a "fixer-upper" in Atherton.
