Thursday: Tri-county panel on economic inequality

Top administrators in San Mateo County, Santa Clara County, and San Francisco County will convene on Thursday, Oct. 8, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Santa Clara Conference Center (5001 Great America Parkway) for a panel discussion on economic inequality.

I would ask that this committee please focus on the plight of all our service workers making less than $30,000 a year, and where they will be able to live if this continues. I include restaurant staff, salon staff, and all childcare, senior care and store clerks, most of whom make less than $15 an hour in this unequal grind. It is outrageous to expect them to commute from Tracy or Stockton just so we can eat that steak in luxury, while they fight for beans.
