Thank you PG&E

Original post made by Menlo Park delegate to the CRP, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Sep 19, 2015

Thank you PG&E for being a Platinum donor to the 2015 Fall California Republican Convention. The Platinum level is the highest level a donor can achieve. Only two companies attained platinum status and PG&E was one of them. I also wish to thank the PG&E legal staff for making this magnanimous contribution possible. They contributed to a most worthy cause.

One wonders why a public utility would make such an overt move.

Links?

One also assumes it is the parent company to pg&e.

Lastly - the CRP still exists? I thought they went bankrupt (morally AND financially) defaulting on debts to small businesses.

Katie,

I hate to burst your bubble but the CRP is in the black, has never filed bankruptcy, and has never defaulted on any debt to its suppliers and service providers. Another falsehood promulgated by liberals.

CA GOP
"has never filed bankruptcy, and has never defaulted on any debt to its suppliers and service providers"

Oh? Re-writing history a bit?

"When prompted about how long it would take to turn things around, Brulte (said) that it would take “a minimum of six years.”

“(CA GOP) is a corporation that is BANKRUPT,”

Brulte said. “There is a lot of heavy lifting that needs to be done and we all need to share in doing it.” Web Link

"This is more like a BANKRUPTCY workout," Brulte said of setting up (CA GOP) infrastructure as chairman."

Part of working the CA GOP out of that libertine fiscal mess involved paying vendors only part of the debt incurred by the GOP.

ie.. stiffing hard working small business owners.

Web Link : If you are really a delegate of a once proud (if occasionally teetering on bankruptcy) party, why hide your name? And since when is SH now in central menlo?

Now back to your post: where are the links on the donation? The PG&E logo at this CA GOP website, Web Link , when clicked on goes to the toyota dealer.

Nice coding. Or hiding something?

GOP Fact Checker you really need to check your facts. The CRP never declared bankruptcy. It never filed Chapter 7, Chapter 9, or Chapter 11. All you pointed out was the the CRP has its financial challenges.

The CRP was $900,00 in debt in 2013 and through generous donations by many Republicans the CRP extinguished this debt and is now running a robust surplus. The surplus is now so large that the CRP has now built a brand new HQ in Sacramento within walking distance of the Capitol and after that significant expenditure the CRP is still in the black.

Now with regard to PG&E. 757 delegates registered for the CRP Fall Convention in Anaheim and each attendee got a blue bag with CAGOP emblazoned on on side and C-SPAN 2016 emblazoned on the other side. Inside each blue bag was a list of donors to the CRP 2015 Fall Convention. In the Platinum category -the highest level of donor participation- there were only two companies listed: PG&E and The California Hospital Association. So I also thank the California Hospital Association for its most generous donation.

"The CRP never declared bankruptcy."

You should have told your boss that! Here's waht he said:

"(CA GOP) is a corporation that is BANKRUPT"

"This is more like a BANKRUPTCY workout"

How many California small business persons got hurt because the GOP negotiated down their debt and payments? Honoring your debts doesn't mean you PULL A TRUMP and use lawyers to hurt good folks who provided excellent service in good faith! The TRUMP playbook includes 4 bankruptcies to cheat folks out of money! Like leader, like followers, one supposes.

Web Link Some grifters never learn.

Then CA GOP wastes money on a palace in Sacramento?!!? Isn't that the very height of overconfidence?

Some grifters never learn.

C'mon, neighbor, you really know better.

Donald Trump is not a member of the California Republican Party. Again, the CRP never declared bankruptcy. Chairman Brulte was just explaining the dire financial state the CRP was in after he inherited a disaster caused by his predecessor Tom Del Becarro; but there never was a bankruptcy filing.

So quit making false accusations that the CRP declared bankruptcy.

Seems like a lot of questions about it - just listening to your boss and the direct quotes from him.

Trump and his 4 bankruptcies seem to fit in well with Brulte's bankruptcy quotes and the CA GOP "DIRE financial state".

How about short paying vendors? You sort of stepped back from that.

Sounds like Brulte called it.

Why is our neighbor in the heights so proud that the utility is buying politicians? Seems like something better left in the back room.

And why give money to republicans for influence inn this state? Bad decisions all the way around, H.

The CRP is current on its payments to all vendors and service suppliers and none of the California Republican Party's Senators and Assembly members have been thrown out of office for criminal behavior and 3 Democrats have. That is how the Democrats lost their super majority.

During Brulte's "BANKRUPTCY workout", the CA GOP short payed suppliers - small Californian businesses that provided services to CA GOP in good faith, only to get shortchanged because CA GOP was a million in debt. According to Brulte: a "DIRE financial state"

Sure, you caught up finally after the profligate spending spree, but screwed small businesses to get there.

Profligate? You decide: 2010 - "paid $1,946 for expenses at this bondage-themed strip club where topless female dancers are reported to simulate sex acts, act out S&M scenes and dangle from the ceiling" Remember the Hollywood strip club scandal? $2,000 bill for "meals" at a nightclub called "Voyuer"? That's where GOP dollars go. Good thing they are tax deductible!

Will the CA GOP support Donald Trump as the nominee?

Of course. No question about it.

That means PG&E donated to support Donald Trump, GOP nominee.

Fact checker,

No one got short changed -- that is a sheer fabrication on your part. There were some delays in payments due to Tom Del Becarro's fiscal irresponsibility; but all vendors were eventually made whole.

You also have difficulty in differentiating between the California Republican Party and the Republican National Party. The CRP paid no money for strippers. But the DNC paid millions of dollars to cover up Bill Clinton's sexploitation of a U.S. Government worker.

You should really get your facts straight. PG&E donated money to the CRP Fall Convention which was not related to Trump in any manner. The Fall convention focuses on California issues only and not on national issues. No Republican candidate for president was endorsed at the 2015 Fall Convention nor will any be endorsed at the Spring 2016 convention to be held at the Hyatt in Burlingame from April 29 through May 1, 2016. You come visit!

The CRP maintains a neutral stance in primaries where two or more Republicans are running for a single seat and only endorses a Republican candidate in a primary if there are no other Republicans running for that seat.

It might be interesting to note that the California Democratic Party once endorsed a Republican in a California House of Representatives race.

Donations were used for strippers by Republicans, just not CA Republicans.

Got it. Am I supposed to feel better? Male stripers?

CA GOP only delayed payments and used other Trump-like business tactics to stave off bankruptcy.

Thank you, Mr. Jim Brult.

And Mike Huckabee was one of the folks who benefited from hose corporate donations. He was one the CRP convention's banquet speaker.

“Mike Huckabee has become a strong, but reasonable voice for conservatives across the nation through his time as Governor and as a bestselling author and talk show host,” said California Republican Party Vice Chairman Harmeet K. Dhillon. “With his years of experience, Huckabee is sure to have a great message to share with our fellow Republicans.”

Last message I heard from Huckabee was that Rainbow Doritos were the devil's work. PG&E and the Caif Hospital Association need to do a better job of vetting their political donations.

It seems George Yang is the (a) CA GOP delegate in Menlo Park? Or could this commenter be VC-K, who often has a lot to say about politics? It seems odd to flaunt the party connection without putting his/her name behind it. Kind of school yard level of politics. I'd hope a delegate for either party wasn't afraid to be public if they want to use the title. Otherwise these comments just seem petty.

D4 smc reps per GOP website

Lucy Calder (Menlo Park)
***Hank Lawrence (Menlo Park)
Anne Marie McCauley (Menlo Park)

And when Hank writes that they do not support Trump locally ? Ha! Wrong!

(breaking today) Donald Trump took first place with 30% of the votes in a ... poll sponsored by the San Mateo County Republican Party. Ben Carson followed in second place with 20%... Executive Carly Fiorina came in third with 11%

Showing that even our local Republicans hate Republican politicians!

2 out of 3 voted against having a Republican politician (senator, governor, etc..) as their candidate!

Now we know the truth: NO ONE LIKES REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS!

Not even Republicans!

14 Republican POLITICIANS received less than 4 in 10 votes - COMBINED!

Senator Disloyal Canadian Cruz 10%
Governor Jeb Bush! (London Bank Party) 9%
Senator Marco Thirsty Rubio 8
Senator Rand (know my Daddy?) Paul garnered 3
Governor George (who?) Pataki 1
Governor John (who?) Kasich 1
Governor Scott (quitter) Walker 1
Governor Chris (bridgegate) Christie 1
Governor Rick (I'm indicted!) Perry 0
Lindsey (single guy) Graham 0
whathisname Gilmore 0
Gov Huckster 0
Gov Jindal 0
Senator Google Me Santorum 0

NO ONE LIKES REPUBLICAN POLITICIANS!

Not even Republicans!

Cal republicans may have been near fiscal bankruptcy, and the national goppers are morally bankrupt.

Today they admitted to spending millions to make Benghazi a thing for purely political purposes.

Twisted.

There have been multiple Benghazi committees - and they have lasted longer than the 9/11 committee, the Katrina committee, Pearl Harbor, etc...

The GOP has skipped many months (6 so far?) of hearings this year, just to drag it out longer into the campaign Web Link

"At the beginning of this year, Select Committee Republicans provided Democrats with detailed information about their plans to hold 11 hearings between January and October on a wide range of topics relating to the Benghazi attacks. Since then, however, Republicans have completely abandoned this plan — holding no hearings at all since January and instead focusing on former Secretary Hillary Clinton. Amazingly, the last eight press releases on the Select Committee's webpage deal entirely with Secretary Clinton."

And finally Fox News reports that it is all a partisan political sham, revealed by Kevin McCarthy, presumptive Speaker, on Fox:

“Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable right? But we put together a Benghazi Special Committee, a select committee. What are her numbers today? Her numbers are dropping," McCarthy said. "Why? Cause she’s untrustable. But no one would have known any of that had happened had we not fought and made that happen”

Web Link

“This stunning concession from Rep. McCarthy reveals the truth that Republicans never dared admit in public: the core Republican goal in establishing the Benghazi Committee was always to damage Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign and never to conduct an even-handed search for the facts. It is shameful that Republicans have used this tragedy and the deaths of our fellow Americans for political gain. Republicans have blatantly abused their authority in Congress by spending more than $4.5 million in taxpayer funds to pay for a political campaign against Hillary Clinton.”

there ya go.

“Everybody thought Hillary Clinton was unbeatable right? But we put together a Benghazi Special Committee, a select committee”

GOP select committee is just a partisan witchhunt. Even they admit it now.

They are taking longer and spending more on something other committees have already covered.

More than the following:
Web Link

HURRICANE KATRINA
Select Bipartisan Committee to Investigate the Preparation for and Response to Hurricane Katrina
5 months and 1 day (2005-2006)
Expended $86,607

PEARL HARBOR
Joint Committee on Investigations of the Pearl Harbor Attack
9 months and 15 days (1945-1946)
Not to exceed $25,000

IRAN-CONTRA - Reagan

Select Committee to Investigate Covert Arms Transactions with Iran
10 months and 13 days (1987)
Expended $4 million according to press reports

CHURCH COMMITTEE
Senate Select Committee to Study Governmental Operations with Respect to Intelligence Activities
1 year, 3 months, and 3 days (1975-1976)
Not to exceed $750,000

WATERGATE
elect Committee on Presidential Campaign Activities
1 year, 4 months, and 21 days (1973-1974)
Not to exceed $2 million

9/11 COMMISSION
National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States
1 year, 7 months, and 25 days (2002-2004)
Expended $15 million according to press reports

More on the partisan witchhunt, under the guise of Benghazi:

"During his deposition, ["Benghazi" witness] was asked more than 200 questions related to the Clintons, significantly more than about Benghazi. A source who was in the room said the first time the word “Benghazi” was uttered in a question to Blumenthal was at 6:30 p.m. The deposition began at 10:30 a.m."

EIGHT HOURS of questions to support the Clinton witchunt before the first Benghazi question. Web Link

Just another Clinton witchunt, which we have seen before. Multiple Benghazi investigations: longer than Pearl Harbor, Nixon's Watergate, Reagan's Iran weapons and 9/11, an UNLIMITED budget of taxpayer money:

BENGHAZI
 Select Committee on the Events Surrounding the 2012 Terrorist Attack in Benghazi
 1 year, 5 months and counting (established May 8, 2014)
 UNLIMITED budget—expended more than $4.5 million to date

Morally bankrupt, just like Jim Brulte said about the CA GOP.
