GOP fights American Founding Fathers

Original post made by Calgary Coward, Atherton: other, on Jul 25, 2015

Ted Cruz and Republicans want to change the Constitution's checks and balances:

“This past term, the court crossed a line, continued its long descent into lawlessness to a level I believe demands action,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) said Wednesday at a Senate hearing he called to “discuss what options the American people have to rein in judicial tyranny.”

That explains a lot. From Pew...
Republicans, in particular, are now more critical of their own party than they were a few months ago. About two-thirds (68%) express a favorable opinion of their party, the lowest share in more than two years. Six months ago, 86% of Republicans viewed the GOP positively.

Ted Cruz has his problems. Sometimes things don't go our way but we don't tear down the 3 column structure that has served us so well over the past 2+ centuries.

Winston Churchill once said in a speech in the House of Commons "Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time." Cruz needs to grow up or as a famous graduate of the London School of Economics once sang "You can't always get what you want".

There are some good people running in the GOP. I only hope that accomplishments, vision, and a demonstrated record of working well with both parties to reach consensus, wins out over inflammatory rhetoric and extremist positions. My choice is John Kasich of Ohio. Given his record as Governor of Ohio and in the House of Representatives he is up to the challenge and would make a very good president.

I don't think moderate Republicans can get any breathing room in this primary.

First debate in a week and Trump and the whackos are killing the party by appealing to the GOP base.

Trump still leads, exposing the right wing base of xenophobes.

If Trump stays on top in NH after the debate, all-hell will break loose...

Huckabee's full Godwin about the doors of the oven is only the beginning.

Looks like it's a billionaire on billionaire match fight!

"Despite a long and cordial relationship between the real estate showman and David Koch, as well as a raft of former Koch operatives who are now running Trump’s presidential campaign, the Koch political operation appears to have concluded that Trump is the wrong standard-bearer for the GOP. And the network of Koch-backed policy and political outfits is using behind-the-scenes influence to challenge Trump more forcefully than the Republican Party establishment — by limiting his access to the support and data that would help him translate his lead in the polls into a sustainable White House campaign.

The Koch operation has spurned entreaties from the Trump campaign to purchase state-of-the-art data and analytics services from a Koch-backed political tech firm called i360, and also turned down a request to allow Trump to speak at an annual grass-roots summit next month in Columbus, Ohio, sponsored by the Koch-backed group Americans for Prosperity, POLITICO has learned."

The Kochs are going to spend $900 million in 2016 to elect a republican they own, for their personal benefit, and to screw you, I and any other working American.

Being Billionaires has its privileges, after all!

At least we get to watch the cat fight between them for free, until they take over the oligarchy.

Yes, Trump is running away with it.

In the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll, just 76% of Republicans preferred someone else.

Sounds like a rout.

The Fortune link is to a poll that occurred in the middle of the McCain comments. A new poll was conducted (in it's entirety) after those comments.

"Trump's 20 percent is the largest tally for a Republican contender in any national poll by the independent Quinnipiac University. Behind Trump are Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker with 13 percent and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush with 10 percent. No other Republican tops 6 percent and 12 percent are undecided.

Trump also tops the "no way" list as 30 percent of Republican voters say they would definitely not support him. New Jersey Gov. Christopher Christie is next at 15 percent with Bush at 14 percent."

In a completely useless exercise (combining the primary polling:)

*Hillary Clinton....55

What the heck happened to Rick Santorum? Didn't he win/tie in Iowa last time?

So Ms. Clinton closes down Bergdorf Goodman, an ultra chic high end luxury goods store in Midtown Manhattan, so she can get a $600 hairdo, and yet she claims to be a candidate of the people? She stretches credibility to new limits like when hubby went on national television and blatantly lied that he did not have sex with that woman. The Clintons are all about avarice, subterfuge, pay for play, and megalomania.

Then she flies around the country in a gas guzzler 3 engine jet, that consumes 379 gallons of jet fuel per hour, on the way to making a speech about global warming and that we must all do our fair share to reduce the carbon footprint. What Chutzpah!

The Clintons are the most disingenuous people to ever set foot on the political stage. If the Democrats want to hold on to the White House they best get Jim Webb to enter the race. He is the best qualified Democrat to run for President in 2016.

uh-oh! Our local Clinton hater woke up out of his district 4 slumber!

So, Charlatan (good choice, btw) - who's your pick for president?

Please tell us your personal pick - your (wo)man of the people, your $18 Supercuts guy/gal? Your pick as a green candidate?

Knock it off with Webb. Tell us who you vote for from YOUR party, today. Quit playing games... is it Kasich? Huck? Perry? Jeb? Nah, it's Rand Paul, amiright?

I would take Webb over every one of the clowns in the gop (Grifters On Parade) clown car.

Jim Webb vs. John Kasich would be a great race. Both are moderates with records of achievements. Just as Republicans have some poor candidates, the Democrats offer poor candidates as well with a different ideological bent. The top front runners in both parties makes me cringe. Webb is the best choice for the Democrats and Kasich is the best choice for Republicans.

I am just grateful that Menlo Park isn't the political barometer for the nation. Long live Fly-over Country.

Kasich is a great politician, who appears to be a moderate.

He is extreme on many, many things, not the least of which is he insists on BIG GOVERNMENT intrudes on women's health decisions and what goes on in the privacy of our bedrooms.

- enacted 16 laws since 2011 to restrict a woman's legal right to choose about her body

- Kasich's 2013 budget had a RAPE 'Gag Rule'; also stripped funding from Planned Parenthood, a primary source of health care for women.

- what kind of self-professed Christian (most with faith are called to help the poor and try to lift them up) enables massive tax cuts that had devastating effects on low-income Ohioans, while massively cutting taxes on the rich?

Kasich did say “You’ve got to help people that are downtrodden and poor, and I just think that that’s part of our culture. You’ve got to help people that can’t help themselves.” when he supported ObamaCare.

When he used a similar line at a Koch brother conference, he was booed.

Webb and Kasich have one thing in common.

Never making it through the primary.

Well, Kasich at least made the cut, sliding into last place to get a seat on the edge of the debate. Imaging that: Kasich and 8 Dwarfs trying to tear down Snow White's Combover.

And all the folks who said Trump wouldn't last because of his unfavorable were too high to escape? Remember how his numbers were for sure going to tank because he said the nasty about 'that loser' McCain?

Monmouth:

GOP voters' view of Trump

Now: 52% favorable/35% unfavorable
July: 40% favorable/41% unfavorable
June: 20% favorable/55% unfavorable

From 55 tp 35 unfavorable in 2 months - has that ever happened before?

Trump is a FORCE with the GOP base. They ALL love him.Web Link

• Ideology – Trump leads Walker 27% to 16% among very conservative voters; has 22% support among somewhat conservative voters to 14% for Bush and 12% for Walker; and takes 28% of the moderate to liberal voter compared to 20% for Bush.

• Tea Party – Tea Party supporters back Trump (35%) over Walker (15%) and Cruz (11%). Non-Tea Party supporters split their top support between Trump (20%) and Bush (16%).

• Age – Trump (26%) has a clear lead over Bush (15%) and Walker (12%) among voters age 50 and older. Those under 50 years old also prefer Trump (26%) over Walker (10%) and Bush (9%).

• Gender – Trump leads among both male and female Republicans, with men (32%) giving him a large advantage over Bush (13%) and Walker (11%). Women (20%) give him a narrower lead over Walker (12%) and Bush (11%).

Couldn't make this spit up. We live in interesting times.

The Washington Post is reporting today that the real brains behind Donald Trump is ... Bill Clinton! Is his candidacy a big joke (which Donald may or may not be in on) that will hand the Presidency to Hillary?

Ha. What a joke. Typical right wing noise machine.

But its a twofer... one lie slams botb Trump and Clinton.

The CDS runs deep with this one.
