Applewood Pizza.

Had given them 3 times and what a failure on all counts. They even gave me a free pizza once and that was under par.I can't believe they made the list of the best pizza. Grease on top, well done and something I wouldn't feed an animal.Go to many places in Palo Alto or even Tony's on Willow Rd. Have they changed ownership?

Agreed OCO. Our neighbors have Vesta and Howie; we've got a crappy corner joint that's like some dive from 1975 with very ordinary offerings.

This poll should be an opportunity to encourage the best, not prop up mediocrity.

I'm a little disappointed that not one restaurant located in the Belle Haven neighborhood was listed as a drop down choice in any category. Each year I'm sure I'll find my favorite listed, and each year (5+) I"m disappointed. And that's why somehow, Back-A-Yard - my hands down favorite take out place - somehow missed notice by the rest of MP. Maybe next year. So far, it continues to be the best kept secret in Belle Haven.

Dawn -

Good call on Back-A-Yard. People should give it a try - great place!

Dawn - I agree! I feel conflicted - I want them to get all the love, but I like that it is still almost a secret. It was profiled on Check Please! and I know sister restaurant Coconuts is popular, so we can't really say it's a secret. There's a nice Willow Rd line up of tasty places from the little shopping center on Willow/Hamilton on down to Gilbert/Willow where Mardini's is.
