Local Rotary clubs help launch West Bank birthing center

After a seven-year effort by Donna Baranski-Walker of the Rotary Club of Woodside/Portola Valley, a birthing center and pre-natal clinic opened at the northern end of the West Bank in March.

Brava Donna. You're a beacon in this era of self-interested myopia that blinds so many of our culture's fortunates to the needs of those who struggle just to survive. And a big thanks to the Rotary Clubs that got behind this important effort.

What a wonderful story! Donna, I'm so impressed at your persistence. I'm sure it was not easy. Those Palestinian women must be incredibly grateful. I've been there, about 15 years ago and I saw how hard life was then. Now I know it's even worse. Thank you for standing up for the Palestinian people and acclaiming they are not terrorists. Some may be, but most are defending their homeland and what they want more than anything to to be allowed to live their lives in peace. Kudos to you.
