Lindenwood Fox Family - Lessons learned

Original post made by Peter Carpenter, Atherton: Lindenwood, on Jul 4, 2015

Two months ago I discovered first a single fox and then a family of two adults and four kits living under the deck in our back yard.

They stayed in our yard until recently.

It has now been two weeks since the beautiful fox family departed.

This experience is a great allegory.

Confronted by strangers my initial response was Fear.
After some time and learning it became Fascination.
With more observation it became Awe.
And now that they are gone it is Sadness.

There is an important message here for the next time I encounter strangers.

Here are the four pictures and one video which best capture the privilege that we have had to share our home with this wild but beautiful family:
1 - the mother sitting very comfortably on the dry fountain wall
2 - a kit on the upstairs deck outside our bedroom
3 - 3 kits in the afternoon sun
4 - 3 kits at twilight
5 - a magnificent video of the four kits playing on our garden couch - be sure to play this video

Very cool! Note: you have to download the video to see it (click on the download box in the upper right hand corner).

And a good lesson for all of us.
