Did the red light cameras at the intersections pick up this truck, and it's license plate number?

Great action by the girl. If the Atherton cops spent less time at the Starbucks on Altschule in W. Menlo Park, where two or three of them hang out for ages, and spent more time on the beat in Atherton, it would be better for that community.

Thank GOD she got away. I run through this area all the time and have never feared for my safety. Scary. Hopefully he will be found. Was she a teen?

Here's a word of advice to all girls and women who like to run: please do not run alone. I know places like Atherton, even Stanford campus, and other quiet areas seem safe, but they are not! Sadly, regardless of the time of day, no where is safe for a female to run alone. Run with at least one friend or with a big, tough dog. Also carry a self defense spray. I'm glad the young woman is okay.

I'm glad the girl is safe. I have advised my daughter to never run alone no matter how safe it seems. Run with a friend or go to a gym. Get a big dog--he'll love the exercise too. This girl was lucky, and who would have thought that Atherton in the middle of the day would be unsafe. I can't stress this enough--nowhere is safe for a girl or woman running alone.

Thank goodness she escaped. With the nice summer weather, it's tempting to go out for a run, but please be careful. When I was in college we usually went for runs in small groups because there had been instances of attacks on girls. It's scary that this sort of thing happens here too.
I wish this story had included some advice from the police on how women should protect themselves.
