SMC Harbor District calls for Special Meeting Wrong Subject

Original post made by Michael G. Stogner, another community, on May 25, 2015

Current subject is reorganize commissioners, translates to Remove Sabrina Brennan as President,
when it should be Terminating New hire employment contract for Glen Lazof. His Memo is a cry for help and also a threat, He has only been there 2 weeks and has declared he won't work well with Sabrina Brennan the President. That should be enough of a Red Flag right there to end the relationship. There was a misunderstanding in the process somewhere, He doesn't get to pick and choose who he will work for. Thank him for his time and cut him loose today.

Think about it, he is hired as interim General Manager, that means temporary, short time, until permanent GM is hired. If he spent 90 minutes doing due diligence on YouTube watching meetings he would see the Sabrina Brennan asks questions, His job was to help the Commissioners through a very busy time, lots to do moving entire office, etc.

Instead he files a threatening Memo where he mentions health issues etc. Every newspaper should publish his memo.

Commissioners you did nothing wrong, everybody makes mistakes this hire is one, that's all wrong gentleman, go find the right one.

I voted for Sabrina Brennan, I think this special meeting was not thought out very well, even if you remove Sabrina as President she is still a Commissioner and you still need to fire Glen Lazof.

I encourage you to vote and keep Sabrina right where she is. Stay focused on what is important for SMC

Here is Bill Silverfarb's article titled Harbor District in chaos.

If you want to solve the chaos look to who just caused it, the Temp.

Historical note about Sabrina Brennan.

If it wasn't for Sabrina Brennan none of the Charter Review Committee meeting in 2010 would have been videoed.
She as a concerned citizen drove from Moss Beach to Redwood City and at least another location and demanded the County do the right thing and make these meeting available for the public to view. I personally saw her make that demand twice.

Sabrina Brennan resigned tonight.

The live free broadcast on Citizen Access TV was not allowed somebody took the transmitter off the window and hide it claiming they did not have permission to broadcast the PUBLIC MEETING.

SSF Police have taught the public a very important lesson about Live Feed coverage of a Public Meetings, and that is "It's not necessary." Last night at the Harbor District special meeting somebody took down, turned off, and hid the LiveStream device that Citizen Access TV was using to transmit the meeting to the public. Not only did the 2 police officers not recognize it as a crime they supported it.

Citizen Access TV has been providing live coverage of public meetings for FREE.

Sabotaging the public's access to this public meeting is appalling. Michael, was there an explanation, ever?

Also, you say she resigned -- from the board or just as president?

Sabrina Brennan stepped aside as President, but did not resign form the board. Brennan nominated Tom Mattusch for President, Nicole David seconded, Tom Mattusch became President and Nicole David became Vice President.

Clarification said it right, Sabrina resigned as President and she did it right after public comment and before the Board had any comments or discussion, so in effect put an end to it on the spot.

The SSF Police Officer told John Ullom "It's not necessary" to live stream. That's not his business.

So what's next with regard to Lazof?

What about Brennan insulting the finance person, who has sued? Is that legit?

Some time ago, Brennan asked the finance director if she was a CPA. This happened during a public meeting, you can watch the video. Board president (at the time) Bernardo then interrupted, and told the finance director not to answer because it was an embarrassing question. Bernardo's response (during a recorded public meeting) can't help matters.

At last night's meeting, Nicole David and Robert Bernardo had prepared statements to lambast Brennan, but Brennan resigned and passed the gavel to Vice President Tom Mattusch before board members had a chance to read anything or make a motion. After Brennan gracefully nominated Tom Mattusch to be the new President, Nicole David and Robert Bernardo felt obligated to read their statements, even though Brennan had already stepped down as President.

@watcher writes about an embarrassing question. Actually, Bernardo said he would be offended if anyone asked him if he has a CPA, so he actually categorized it was an offensive question. The video is here: Web Link

I know plenty of competent finance people who aren't CPAs. I also never realized it was an offensive question to ask.

Thank you for filling me in and giving me the link.

So who was the "Pinky Tuscadero" berating her way through the first part of the video?

Seems to me that all these employees, including Galarza the non-CPA doth protest too much, given the financial mess in which they are involved.

Is any part of our county gov't clean?

Walter -

To answer your last question, "no."

Unfortunately, you didn't have to limit your question with the word "county."

Water asked "What about Brennan insulting the finance person, who has sued? Is that legit?"

This last meeting May 26, 2015 was amazing, so many people there, Several speakers mentioned lawsuits filed and lawsuits in the future etc.

Sabrina Brennan asked a question at a public meeting that 120,656 voters wanted her to ask. It was a simple straight forward question, there was nothing disrespectful about it.

The employee and some of the other Commissioners think there is a Chain of Command to follow. Newsflash this is not the Military.

Fact Sabrina Brennan has NEVER been sued in San Mateo County. So to all the speakers that stated this false statement shame on you.
