Popular streets like this are exactly where we need sidewalks and bike lanes. I'm glad the city has finally figured this out.

I happened to be walking down Santa Cruz Avenue yesterday evening and found the electronic signs quite enigmatic. I forget exactly what they flashed, but there was definitely something about a project being "removed". By contrast, a hand-lettered sign on someone's private fence was completely clear. It said "We need sidewalks on Santa Cruz Ave." with an arrow pointing beyond where the existing sidewalk ends.

This was a poorly noticed meeting about an even more poorly communicated plan that seems to favor a few property owners who have installed things in the city right of way instead of favoring a design that provides landscaping and some parking. It seems that all parking is being removed from one street and plopping it onto others that were never designed for parking.
Meetings and discussions are good but this feels like something is being crammed down on us. We have needed well designed side walks for many years these need to serve many, not just a few Santa Cruz home owners.
do it right and communicate it much better.
