I hope some of our Silicon Valley titans with many acres of landscaped grounds will finally cut their water usage. I heard a California Report on KQED and it was embarrassing. They were doing interviews at Buck's and on of the Woodside residents admitting to having a huge lawn and a big investment in landscaping, and that the drought would have to get "a lot worse" for him to cut back his water usage. Just because some can afford to pay thousands of dollars per month for landscape watering doesn't mean they should. C'mon, we're all in this together, let's do the right thing and be careful about water.

I still remember the drought from the late 70's, "if it's yellow let it mellow"!

in unincorporated West Menlo I am told we must reduce by 36% That is the same as Atherton et al. We have less than 1/4 of an acre and we must reduce water 36% this does not make sense to me.

Ame - I worry about this as well.

I sent an email to jessica.bean@waterboards.ca.gov to share my concerns (I encourage everyone to do the same). At our home, we've already reduced water consumption by 40% so we don't have a lot of wiggle room for further reductions.

Not sure what the best solution would be since higher rates for greater consumption likely won't cause some in Atherton to curb water use. That said, it's not realistic to truly ration / limit water use.
