2016 Democratic Presidential Primary Begins to Shape Up

Original post made by Family Feud, Menlo Park: Sharon Heights, on Apr 3, 2015

The 2016 Democratic Primary is beginning to look like the Hatfields and McCoys. Only it is the Clintons and O’Malley who are preparing for a vigorous primary contest—that is if Elizabeth Warren doesn’t get in the race. One Clinton Democrat admitted on deep background "They [The Clintons] are the most petty, vengeful people out there. They hold a grudge for decades. I don't think he [O'Malley] expected them to welcome him with a fruit basket."

But O’Malley is determined not to be Hillary’s doormat. He gets to the point by saying “The presidency of the United States is not some crown to be passed between two families [Clinton & Bush]". And his jibe seems to have resonated with Democrats and Republicans across the country suffering from Clinton and Bush fatigue and could quite possible spoil the coronation for Hillary.

"Hillary and Bill Clinton have been thick as thieves with Wall Street," says a pro-O'Malley Democrat. "She was very close with the financial industry, and she depends on them for money." Yet years after the 2008 economic meltdown, many Democrats are still furious that the big shot Wall Street players responsible for the meltdown were not held accountable, and it hurts Hillary to be associated with them. "This is a really, really, really big issue with progressives — that there was no accountability for Wall Street," says the Democrat.

Many Republicans also complain that the media wants a coronation for Her Royal Highness, but the consensus is that the press would like to see an actual contest for the Democratic nomination. For instance, the Boston Globe recently pleaded for Sen. Elizabeth Warren to run and stated in an editorial "Democrats would be making a big mistake if they let Hillary Clinton coast to the presidential nomination without real opposition." The fact that some major voices in the press are strongly rooting for Warren to run is a clear signal that the fourth estate is eager for an energetic primary contest. And if Warren stays out, they'll rally behind O’Malley.

Yay! It's been a week since our local HillaryHater™ has surfaced from his hole (buried deep in dis 4, amiright?)

Who ya voting for this primary, H?

Jeb Bush? who hasn't been in office in a decade, but who *patriotically* has spent years working for a London-based multinational bank? right after you complain about Bill Clinton (23 million new jobs and balanced budgets in the 90's) being close to Wall St.?

puh-leeeze....

Leave your GlennBeckian fantasies on the far right fringe websites.

Let's look at facts:

"So not that very long ago, Jeb Bush’s aggressive and controversial business tactics, mostly focused on the politically perilous area of private equity management in conjunction with shadowy foreign partners, especially in China, convinced some observers he sure wasn’t acting like somebody planning a presidential campaign."

"Bush also has made investments through private equity funds, including one in which $61 million was raised largely from foreign interests.Bush also has made investments through private equity funds, including one in which $61 million was raised largely from foreign interests."

"On Wednesday, Bush resigned from the board of directors of Tenet Healthcare Corp., also effective Dec. 31, according to a corporate filing. The Dallas-based company actively supported the 2010 Affordable Care Act, and has seen its revenue rise from it, an issue that could draw fire in Republican primaries.
Bush earned cash and stock awards worth nearly $300,000 from Tenet in 2013, according to corporate filings. He also sold Tenet stock worth $1.1 million that year, the records show.
Can’t be associating with Obamacare lovers, can he?"

Hypocrites. ie.. Republicans.

H loves the Bushes, let's look at the monthly job report to see how Obama saved us from the disastrous Bush Great Recession:

Web Link

Lat month, not so good, but one can clearly see from any monthly jobs graph how the Bushes create such a mess, it requires a Democrat to fix a Bush economy/recession/depression.

Any one choosing a Bush over a Clinton needs to take off the blinders and look at economic history.

Great chart - case closed.

Democrats and Republicans don't get it. It is the Independents who will decide who gets to be the next president-- not them! And we don't like Hillary or Jeb. DO YOU UNDERSTAND?

As far as I am concerned Hillary and Jeb are both toxic waste. Martin O'Malley had it right--"The presidency of the United States is not some crown to be passed between two families." We see both the Clintons and the Bushes as part of ananchronistic corrupt political machines that have dominated both parties for way too long. It is time to jettison both.

And Democrats get real. Just because someone doesn't like Hillary doesn't mean that person is enamored with Jeb. As far as I am concerned being asked to pick between Hillary and Jeb is like being asked whether you would rather be executed by hanging or by a firing squad when you would rather be at Sundance enjoying an aged bone in ribeye.

So Hillary Hater keep up the good work for the Republicans. Maybe they will pick someone who has the best interest of the nation in mind--someone like Scott Walker or John Kasich. And if the Democrats can get their act together maybe they will choose Martin O/Malley, Jim Webb or Doug Shreffler.

It is time to depart from corrruption and cronyism and vote for candidates who at least give the appearance about caring for their country.

@Independent -- You state, "So Hillary Hater keep up the good work for the Republicans. Maybe they will pick someone who has the best interest of the nation in mind--someone like Scott Walker or John Kasich."

Those two incompetents? Really?

And why all these national discussions on a board that is supposed to be concentrating on LOCAL issues?

"the Independents"

...are just republicans who got fed up with being identified as such when the party took it's hard right turn with the tea baggers. Any comment on the monthly jobs report chart, Hank?

Web Link

Hillary is probably my last choice among Dems, as she is the centrist in bed with Wall St, as is Obama. Be happy to look at Malloy and Biden, and am bummed that a real Democrat such as Elizabeth Warren will not run.

That said, Hillary is FAR BETTER for American than any republican I've seen mentioned thus far. Walker? Too fringe for America's tastes. Kasich? You're dreaming - what a joke. He would be thrilled to be in the veep discussion.

Do you have anyone that can beat Hillary?

Anyone?

Didn't think so.

America's first woman president. Cool.

Independents

"According to a new poll, Republicans are more likely to have a doughnut for breakfast, while Democrats prefer to eat bagels and croissants, and independents are that annoying friend who's still looking at the menu after fifteen minutes."

So funny to read this in hindsight - The Dems have three solid candidates that speak to issues. [part removed.]

The GOP has a car load of clowns that can't speak to issues, so they attack each other and then attack anyone who asks about issues - "the media is SO unfair to me! Wahhhhhh......"

Watching the GOP debate - every one of their tax plans is a version of what George Bush called Voodoo Economics.

Tax cuts pay for themselves? Never been done - proven wrong in every case.

They're all drinking the same kool-aid that Alan Greenspan drank in 2001, and took America from balanced budget to billion dollar defict in 2008.
