Great job by both St. Raymond's and Nativity students! A lot of time, effort and sacrifice goes into preparing for an event of this nature. You should be proud--teachers, coaches, parents, and students.

"The decathlon is a day-long competition for students in grades 6-8" Sadly, that is an incorrect statement as far as Nativity is concerned. Nativity did not allow their 6th grade or 8th grade students to participate. Only one 8th grade student was asked this year, one that had participated since 6th grade. Will next years team consist solely of 8th graders? Will you back fill from next years 7th grade class? Is there a testing system in place to gauge if all children are prepared (or not) for such an event? Is there a requirement on how students are chosen? Do parents chose the team or the administration? Will you hand pick from your son's current 5th grade class to be alternates as you did with your daughters 7th class?

Maybe Nativity would have won 1st place if current 8th grade were asked to be a part of the team…
