According to the Daily Breeze today (12/22/2014) - Rancho Palos Verdess city council announced this Monday's special meeting last Friday after Widmer told Atherton newspaper The Almanac that he didn’t plan on immediately resigning from elected office.
RPV Mayor Jim Knight said “We did have a conversation to try and clarify some issues with Mr. Widmer, but I can’t really tell you anything else — there’s potential litigation that could come forth, so I can’t really comment any further than that."
"Potential litigation" - seems like there may be more to the story.
