Drive down the streets of North Fair Oaks at night and you'll have your answer.

Banning overnight parking on city streets means that people have to be able to store their cars in their garages or on their driveways. It's only appropriate that people store their private property not on public land. The ban facilitates street sweeping and also makes it easier for abandoned cars to be tagged and towed more quickly. When I lived in Palo Alto people would leave their car on the street for weeks at a time, adding to congestion and parking problems.

This enforcement has been around for many years since the 1960's that I know of.
