Cover story: War is hell

Woodside resident and former mayor Nat Landes has many military medals sitting on a bookshelf in his living room that recognize his service as a U.S. Army artillery officer during World War II. He talked about his service with the Almanac.

A lot of the stuff that happened in Germany during WWII makes the torture of Al Qaeda prisoners pale in comparison. Not to belittle the contemporary torture .... Just the sheer numbers of those who were killed and who died under horrible circumstances in WWII. There are psychopaths and those who follow them.
