Train and car collide

Original post made by Newshound, Menlo Park: Downtown, on Nov 19, 2014

As widely reported on Twitter last night (Tuesday, November 18) during rush hour, a train sheared off a chunk of a car at the Ravenswood crossing. Presumably the car was stuck on the tracks in heavy traffic.

Interesting that the Almanac isn't mentioning this incident at all. But fact is, these incidents are bound to increase with the Greenheart development, 400,000+ square feet of space that sits right between two crossings. No one wants negative publicity that might cause residents to question the wisdom of such dense development in that location.

Of course you should never cross the tracks unless you can see space on the other side, even if people are honking at you. But if you're not 100% familiar with the area and sitting in bumper-to-bumper gridlock in the dark, it would be pretty easy not to see those tracks.
