Deputy, two correctional officers arrested

Original post made on Nov 21, 2014

A deputy sheriff and two correctional officers were arrested Nov. 13 on charges that they smuggled cellular phones and drugs into the county jail in Redwood City for use by an inmate and criminal street gang member, according to District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

D.A. Wagstaffe in a promo interview at Pen TV- October 2014 said he has 24,000 cases a year.
In one of the interviews about Deputy Lopez in November 2014 he said has 18,000 cases a year.
When interviewed in November 2014 after Prop 47 passed , he said 3,000 cases a year.
Can this D.A. get his numbers right ?
Is his creditability questionable?

Why are so many questioning the DA when a cop is busted partnering with a known gangbanger? Is the union THAT strong around here?

There's more than enough room and reason to look at both the DA and the officer. Its not either/or.It's all about putting the history of both in context.

1963truth brings up an interesting issue. All San Mateo elected officials should and need to fact checked ever step of the way. Thanks for the research, 1963.

Man , sure wish there was an edit button here. I meant to say that " All San Mateo elected officials should and need to be fact checked every step of the way."

Who Broke The Law - Have you been paying attention to the machinations of the DA all of these years?

"a cop is busted partnering with a known gangbanger?" This is what Steve Wagstaffe says and I guess has charged.

Steve Wagstaffe is known to not tell the truth, 3 Judges have confirmed that. I was a Jury foreperson on a DUI case against a Marine, Wagstaffe knew there was NO EVIDENCE of Driving anything that didn't stop him from falsely charging him and wasting citizens time and Taxpayer money. Verdict Not Guilty of course.

Thanks for the replies. Good tactic: cast suspicion away from that person going to trial to someone else. Actually makes quite a bit of sense. We'll see how well that works out for everyone.

"who broke the law" is a perfect example of why people like Wagstaffe keep getting elected. "Who" obviously hasn't been paying attention to the corruption in our county.

The person going to trial can't wait to get in front of a jury. He can't wait to see what the charges actually are.

You don't know what they are, I don't know what they are, the Almanac doesn't know what the charges are, his attorney doesn't know what they are.

I am not saying that any of the accused are innocent or guilty. I am saying that the DA compromised his integrity many moons ago, and has advocated the sheriff right after he was busted at an illegal bordello, and the undersheriff just excaped by the skin of his teeth.

I know that the Board of Supervisors are fully aware of Corruption warnings by average citizens, including those who took time out of their busy schedules to speak about it publicly, myself included since 2001.Here is just one little example, I attended this meeting.

DA's office needs probe, residents charge

“There must be an end to this,” she said, charging that the office has a “a deep level of corruption.”
