What happened to all the comments on this story? Surely they weren't censored.

As usual because there were comments critical of our DA, the Almanac deleted them. God forbid anyone should point out how bad our DA is.

The article ended with Wagstaffe pointing out in a grand statement how police officers who break the law are treated the same as anyone else (by his office).

But then when posters pointed out that Wagstaffe did not put either of these two arrests on his press log of cases of interest (but routinely puts other cases; surely if this case made all the newspapers it was a case of interest), belying his statement that he treats cops equally, the posts were deleted.

It was not until the Palo Alto Post reported on this story did Wagstaffe even acknowledge the prosecution.

So, his statement that he treats cops who break the law the same as anyone else is a lie.

I saw Colin T. Smith testify, It was one thing to watch him explain his 17 text messages while on taxpayer dime and his phone calls, he explained his being in Redwood City several times that night even though his patrol area was San Carlos, one explanation was to fuel up the patrol car, when asked what time he did that, he didn't remember.
After his shift ended at 6:00AM he met with his SGT. and the rest of San Carlos Patrol Officers for drinks at the Orchid Room at 6:30 AM. That was a bit surprising.

He also testified that he was served with the restraining order, he understood how important that document is, and he violated it, by going to the car she was sitting in, and had a conversation with her. He was protected by the RWCP Department in the police report it stated that "He didn't threaten her." Just by him being there was the threat.
