Chain-saw sculptor at work

Taken down in September after reports that it was leaning precariously, the huge pine tree in Fremont Park at the corner of University Drive and Santa Cruz Avenue no longer towers over its space, but it will continue to inhabit it.

Yes, I can't wait to try out the new chair and benches made from the old pine tree!

Get ready for a surprise, RedZR1: the back of the chair angles forward toward the seat.

The angle of the trunk and the assignment of having a forward-facing chair more or less forced Mr. Mahoney to create an acute triangle where an obtuse one is the norm: where the seat and the back meet.

Maybe it will be beneficial for peoples' posture. It may be comfortable for a cat, but a human? Probably not. I sat in it. It's a strain.
