Is this open to the public (residents), or just an FYI?

I don't think the newspaper would post the time and address of the reception if it wasn't open to the public.

Ordinarily we would not post the time and address of a closed event, but in this case I thought the event was open to the public when in fact it is not. My apologies for the confusion.

Does anyone else suspect that this is connected to recent efforts to establish the Manadarin Charter School? Apparently the Chinese government is funding programs in many places in the U.S.

Maybe the delegation is here to smooth anti-Asian sentiment from some MP folks. I don't see that as a conspiracy -- it's a good thing for the community and for diversity in general. There is no sinister secret plot here.

Hey, maybe we can ask them what they are going to do about Chinese lust for ivory and drinking teas with rhino horn or tiger testes for vitality, or monetary policy that puts American exports at a disadvantage?
I, for one, am kind of sick of China's 20 different silly superstitions and customs that are destroying the natural world as we know it.
If there is "anti-Asian sentiment" from some MP folks, it's well deserved and has NOTHING to do with racism.

A delegation of 20+ foreign government officials is going to travel all the way to Menlo Park just to try to win the hearts of a few misguided citizens? Ummm....right. I highly doubt the Chinese government would fund a foreign government trip to Menlo Park, California without a specific agenda...most likely to build their own knowledge and make connections related to a) venture b) tech c) funding Chinese language programs all over world to further their global economic/political objectives or d) all of the above!

So is that agenda a bad thing?
