Measure M supporters attempt to silence critics - and won't engage in an open dialogue

Peter,

You live in Atherton, not Menlo Park, and yet you've contributed *far* more posts and words to Measure M-relevant discussions on The Almanac's Town Square (Web Link

Now, you're threatening to do the same here. Yes, this is a free country, and you're entitled to voice your own opinion, but you flood these discussions way too much considering you don't live here and don't get a vote here.

Please leave us Menlo Parkers to figure this out for ourselves.

Mike,
I believe that a fundamental aspect of democracy is having informed voters and I will continue in my efforts to inform voters of the many problems with the poorly worded and unvetted Measure M.

I do not live in Menlo Park BUT Menlo Park is MY downtown.

And I have been overwhelming elected three times by the citizens of Menlo Park to represent THEM as a Director of the Menlo Park Fire Protection District - a District whose TAXPAYERS are paying a huge price for the defective wording in Measure M. All of my financial interests have been publicly reported on my annual Form 700s.

I also served as a Planning Commissioner in Palo Alto during the time when we rewrote the city's General Plan so I have some in-depth knowledge of the issues involved in planning and zoning.

There should be a healthy debate on Measure but trying to silence your critics is not the way to get that debate. You hope for a low turnout election where only the zealots vote and the uniformed voters stay home - that is NOT going to happen.

As I commented on Nextdoor, that Mike Lanza has a problem with Peter being from Atherton after accepting a $20,000 donation to Measure M from another Atherton resident is the height of hypocrisy.

Mike:

you are an unbelievable hypocrite. It's ok for you to accept 65% of your funding from an Atherton resident, but an Atherton resident can't comment on your measure? UN****ING believable! You and the rest of your supporters can't stand to have the facts presented so you will attack anyone that does and you refuse to answer any questions. Spare me the "leave this to us Menlo Parkers." I'm a "Menlo Parker" and you and [portion removed; keep it civil].

If you honestly want us to vote for your measure then give us some facts and answer some questions rather than relying on ignorant voters.

The Save Menlo also took in $2000 from the Committee for Referendum in Mountain View....as of their last report of June 2014. Who knows how much more "out of town" money they've acquired since.

Interested readers will note that this Invitation to Measure M supporters to engage in an open dialogue has been posted for two weeks without a single response from the Measure M supporters. What are they hiding? Why are they hiding?
