Development and more housing = more clogging traffic

Original post made by gunste, Portola Valley: Ladera, on Sep 8, 2014

Like the discussion of the Facebook development, traffic jams on Marsh road and around the Dumbarton Road area, the same applies to Stanford.
With never ending construction of new buildings, which engenders more people, the roads delivering the personnel to Stanford clog the roads very badly from about 7:30AM to 9:30 AM and then in the afternoon from 3:30 to 6:30 PM on Sandhill Road, Alpine Rd, Junipdero Sera, Page Mill - all the accesses to Stanford from the south, north and west. (I have not looked at the mess from the east.
On the west side, what Stanford needs is its own exit from 280, so that Page Mill, Alpine and Sandhill can serve all the other business workers that use it. Improving the Sandhill- Santa Cruz- Junipera Serra - Alpine Intersection was badly needed, but failed to relieve the feeder roads. The continued expansion of Stanford merely makes matters much worse. Widening all the access roads to the University would only be a temporary improvement. - Things rally get out of hand when there is a football game at Stanford, which often precludes traveling from Ladera to Menlo Park or Palo Alto before or after a game.
