First could you assign a reporter to look into the fire district's turf installation and investigate whether the turf installation falls under capital improvements or maintenance and if the proper accounting rules were followed. Also, whether other perhaps community oriented projects or fire safety endeavors could have benefited from the $50,000. Some examples would be implementing a communication system between California Water Service and the Fire District regarding CWS maintenance turnoffs of fire hydrants which are not communicated to the fire district leaving some hydrants out of and or with out of service signs for weeks at a time. Also implementing workable and rapid procedural rules with the city of Menlo Park regarding posting of fire lanes, proper red curbs and elimination of parking spots which narrow streets and lanes below the required road width code for fire trucks.
Second, I would like this thread's comments restricted to non-registered users only. I feel that should be acceptable as registered users are allowed to restrict a thread to only registered users. As it is quite evident from numerous comments, being a registered user in no way guarantees a posting that is tactful, respectful, free of abuse and an example of decorum.
Thank you in advance for considering these two requests.
