I think the Pig Scramble is a very bad example to set for young children. The poor things have no clue what these screaming children are doing and no wonder the pigs scream. My daughter has 2 large pot belly pigs who sleep in the house and are grateful for kindness.I think they should rethink this stupid event.

This nonsense was banned at the Rowell Ranch Rodeo grounds in Castro Valley back in 1986.
Woodside needs to follow suit, along with the rest of California
In my less-than-humble opinion any parents who would allow/encourage their kids to participate in this abuse should be cited for both animal cruelty and child endangerment. How long before a kid gets a pig's hoof in the eye?
Such events send a terrible message to impressionable young children (not to mention insensitive adults) about the proper treatment of other animals. They (and we) deserve better.

PIG SCRAMBLES - JUST SAY NO!
The July 4 Woodside Mounted Patrol rodeo plans yet again to feature the cruel "pig scramble" event(s), dangerous for kids and piglets alike. (If in doubt, see the many on-line YouTube videos, including a couple from Woodside.)
And what a terrible message to send to impressionable young children about the proper treatment of animals. Surely there are more humane and life-affirming entertainments for our kids than this.
Let the Mounted Patrol and the Woodside Town Council hear your concerns.
Teach kindness.
Sincerely,
Eric Mills, coordinator
