On Tuesday night it will be interesting to see in the Lanza/Fry supporters really want to clean up the mess created by this unintended consequence of their poorly worded initiative or do they really want to block a new fire station serving the downtown.

Well we now know the answer - NO.
Fry stood up before the council and stated that her initiative would not in any way impact the replacement of Station 6 BUT she also refused to propose that the council adopt George Fisher's brilliant idea of a legislative referendum to assure that outcome.
Save Menlo has an interesting strategy - their initiative will have a big impact and at the same time it will have no impact.
Thank goodness the Fire Board has shown the wisdom to start looking for other sites from which to serve the downtown area.

Lanza/Fry certainly seem to want to have things both ways don't they?
It will have no impact on things/it will have an impact (the point of the initiative, right?)
Someone from outside the city can't oppose or comment on the initiative/someone outside the city can provide most of the money used to collect signatures for the initiative.
