There have been much more lavish (and expensive) productions of Mozart's most popular work, but Palo Alto's plucky West Bay Opera continues to amaze with its ambitious mounting of this most complex operatic masterwork, "Die Zauberflote" ("The Magic Flute').

Brancaneavu stole the show with his huge baritone voice and energetic comic acting. Saw him at Livermore Valley Opera 4 years ago as Don Giovanni where he was equally dynamic. A terrific baritone with amazing stage presence.
