Munks has made the correct decision by not answering questions. While this editorial is well-meaning, it doesn't think just one move ahead on the chessboard. The problem for Munks is that as soon as he answers questions, he either has to wind up resigning, or look like a total, incredible, liar.

That's because Munks' rationale that he and Bolanos thought they were going to get a massage after an athletic event brings up some obvious and unanswerable questions. Here are just a few:

1. How did these two crack law enforcement officers mistake a squalid, residential home with bars on the windows and odors of urine and feces (according to the Las Vegas papers) for a massage parlor?

2. Why go to a massage parlor so far out of Las Vegas, when there are tons of reputable massage parlors there. For example, the spa in Munks' own hotel.

3. When Munks walked into the alleged massage parlor, and didn't see a counter with a clerk offering massage services, or a sign with massage prices, and underage women not dressed as massage therapists, but dressed as prostitutes (or not dressed at all), how could he not do an immediate about face and leave?

I'm sure I could think of more.

The long and short of this is that if any thought is given to the issue, the conclusion is not "Mr. Munks is the only real choice in the race," but that "Juan Lopez is the only real choice in the race." This is because this was a house of illegal underage prostitution, and there could be no plausible mistake about it.

The noise comes from the usual suspects. Why couldn't they find a better candidate?

In a county full of democrats, why couldn't they find one to run against the Republican?

Munks pulled a detestable thing by visiting one of the illegal brothels in Neveda.

His detractors scream, mostly anonymously, mostly online. Then late at night they turn on HBO and watch that series about a legal brothel in Nevada. I guess it keeps them off the street where they could do real harm.

Just a theory, but perhaps because those that would want to aren't members of the SMC "aristocracy" and don't want to put themselves in the line of fire of the SMC corruptocrats?

Also, "adjusting to Gov. Brown's "realignment" program sending felons convicted of nonviolent, non-serious crimes to county jails to complete their sentences" is a core function of his job which he is obligated by federal court order to do - not an "accomplishment".

Where has he been a supervisor in the sheriffs office (Lopez). But Stogner just gave him the kiss of death!
