I hope the city staff has more important things to do than "help find private donors" for a project funded by the county. City staff are already busy evaluating how to tailor program fees to best server the hordes of nonresidents that have stormed our council chambers to complain that our city is hurting their feeling. The city should focus our resources on serving the residents of Menlo Park.

Peninsula Humane Society does an incredibly good job evaluating animals to put up for adoption. Their excellence in this area is known throughout the statewide shelter system. They animals also receive very good vet care. Many of these animals get what they need at our shelter - a second chance to be rehomed. There's the TAILS program at the jail that does a good job, as well as the Hope Fund, fostering and many, many volunteers whose invaluable work is hands on with the animals. Their wildlife dept is also incredibly talents, and have taken over Palo Alto's, and will have new digs in the South Bay.

We are both fortunate to have PHS and smart to invest our personal time and resources. While Animal Control is a different department, the animals brought in by Animal Control receive these many excellent services, whether they're wild, domestic, livestock, sick, well, old or young.

We've happily adopted three animals from PHS in the past decade. We've also turned in rescued animals, which have been adopted. We are grateful for this amazing shelter in our area.
