WHICH Saturday morning'? April 5th? Or April 12th? How brief was the suspension? When did the search recommence?

No dates are stated in the above quoted explanation.

This is the sequence then:

The search was suspended on April 7th, Monday.
It was started again on April 12th, Saturday.

This is what the Sherriff's Department's Lt. Pittman calls "...briefly suspended...".

Four days is quite a span of time in the context of a search...regardless of whether it is "rescue" or "recovery".

Julie's points make me wonder what the legal obligations are re a search of this type.

Hmmm: I don't know anything about the legal aspects. Interesting question though.

What I did start to wonder though is: when did that man contact the officials telling them that he had seen the missing hiker?

When did the officials get that information. On what day did they know he had seen her?

With that new information, did they proceed immediately with resuming the search?

Some of the news reports I have read are sometimes ambiguous and therefore confusing.

Lt. Pittman of the Marin County Sheriff's Office told the Almanac that they received the tip as to the possible whereabouts of Ms. Glinkowski at about 7 a.m. on Friday morning, April 11.

The Sheriff's Office began to organize a search at that time, which also involved a study of the area to be searched.

The search began at 7 a.m. Saturday, April 12, and they found the body about 2 to 2 1/2 hours into the search.
