Another local Shell gas station bites the dust

Original post made by whatever, Menlo Park: Central Menlo Park, on Mar 12, 2014

The Shell station at 5th and El Camino was bull-dozed yesterday. In its place is going a Loop Neighborhood convenience market - basically a very expensive, very large 7-11 on steroids. Gas pumps might be staying as they have at other locations.

Chavez Market can't be too happy that this new convenience market is moving in next door.

Most of the Loop neighborhood markets in place still sell gas, but with the added convenience of a upscale market. Loop isn't really competing with Chavez if they are selling Cobb salads, lattes and craft beer, things you cannot purchase at Chavez.
If they want to attract techies, they should put the can recycling trailer at another location, and there wouldn't be so many homeless patrolling the local streets for cans either.

Who remembers when that was a Richfield gasoline station? And Chavez was Key Market.
