City Manager wants $360,000 loan to repair his home

Original post made by old timer, Menlo Park: Downtown, on Dec 13, 2013

According to a front page article in the Daily Post, City Manager McIntyre is asking Council to approve this $360,000 loan and other changes in his compensation.

Negotiated by ex-Mayor Ohtaki and City Attorney McClure, it will come before Council on the Consent calendar (Item D7, next Tuesday).

Absolutely outrageous in my opinion.

Excuuuse me! The city should not be in the banking business. This is an unnecessary perk for a highly paid city employee who has other options. This is a really bad precedent.

If the City has a financial stake in the home, I can see the city making a loan with reasonable terms for both parties. If this is a privately owned home, why can't he get a loan from a bank or credit union? The city got burned in their BMR subsidy not to long ago, why they even offer loans is a mystery to me.
