Town looks at ways to coax walking, cycling to school

About 8 percent of Woodside Elementary School students walk or ride a bike to school. Students driven to school are the majority and most vehicles carry just one student. A Safe Routes to School audit is on the agenda for the Dec. 10 Town Council meeting, which starts at 7:30 p.m. in Independence Hall.

I'm glad that Woodside is finally joining the 21st century and starting to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety. Hasn't the time come for a stop light at the corner of Canada & Hwy 84? That intersection is a death trap for pedestrians trying to cross the street.
