Movie review: 'Closed Circuit'

You've seen worse than the new legal thriller "Closed Circuit," but you've also seen a lot better. Despite breathless proclamations about "the biggest, most high-profile murder case in British history" and timely trappings of closely held government secrets threatening to come to light, it all turns out to be rather boilerplate.

One has to wonder whether Peter finds it incredible that the US would "fix" a high-profile trial and, thus, is unable to suspend disbelief at the Brits doing so. Or maybe he misses the absence of a car chase. In actuality, electricity courses through this suspenseful film as it does through a high voltage closed circuit. The only flaw is that, at the end, the female barrister comes to comfort the male barrister when, from the plot, it should have been the reverse.
