Makes sense that the Bro-hannons wouldn't be interested in continuing to support a place like this.

Rumor is that Mr Bohannon has a hotel willing to operate, so the project an owproceed.

Who wrote this? The only question I had was why are they being evicted? And there is NO answer in the entire article, seriously???? Makes a potential lead on a new place a little hard to make if it were say for non payment of rent..... too bad we are left to speculate Mr Boyce.

This shop is needed for so many small biz folks in our area, it's unfortunate that Jim fails to offer anything to member for such donations, who have put up with a lot, including poor management in MP alone. If the public was aware of the millions TS has been given over the years by sponsors it could have been used for the MP location for much needed improvements, and the looming relocation which has been known about for at least 2 years. And now they find themselves in a "kickstarter" predicament.

Membership there has fallen, sadly, due to so many poor decisions, staff is egregiously underpaid and under appreciated. Such a great place but poorly run in MP, I hate to see it go for any amount of time or the talented kids that work there, who need better incentives just to stay, now face job loss.

TS get your act, funding and management together please, maker community needs you, they are losing faith in you fast.

I say good riddance. Techshop is nothing but poorly maintained, often broken down equipment, poor facilities and very unfriendly and unprofessional staff. I was told personally by a higher up at TechShop OVER a year ago that the landlord wanted to build something else there and that they were going to have to leave soon. So, there is no surprise here, but I guess it makes for good drama and a news story.

Nothing about TS finances or a sudden eviction makes sense.
Menlo P is run and operates differently than the other "corporate" locations. I'd guess that Jim Newton has authority at this shop and his methods and this shop don't fit the CEO's vision...so they are letting him fend for himself.
I heard rumors that TS is working on a corporate investor funding round. Now talk of crowd funding? Crowd funding for a company with well paid executives?
Also, if this location has half the revenue of San Fran ($2M in 2013?) then why does it need crowd funding? It must have been running as a profitable entity Wouldn't recently considering very little invested over the past 2 years?
The answers will only be fond by interviewing Mark Hatch.

This doesn't surprise me. Why are they "turning to the public for donations"?? They are a for-profit corporate chain that is not a startup and that has well paid execs (even if they pay their employees Walmart-like wages). In my opinion, they are no more than a cheaply run corporate chain store, except without the efficiency you would expect at one. They talk about a "flagship" store?? They can't even manage to keep their other corporate chains up properly.
