Today is the Centennial of the Hottest Day Ever Recorded on Planet Earth

The national Weather Service in Las Vegas, Nevada has announced that there will be a centennial celebration of the hottest temperature every recorded in the world at the Furnace Creek Visitors Center today. That temperature was 134 degrees according to the National Oceanographic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)

Unfortunately, due to industrialization in China, India and other parts of Asia global temperatures have showed a steady rise. Last year 2012 was the 9th hottest year on record.
"The average temperature in 2012 was about 14.6 degrees Celsius (58.3 degrees Fahrenheit), which is 0.55°C (1.0°F) warmer than the mid-20th century base period. The average global temperature has increased 0.8°C (1.4°F) since 1880."
