O-Negative Blood is Needed in Response to SFO Plane Crash

It's being reported in that blood deliveries to each hospital affected by the SFO plane crash have created a severe shortage in O Negative blood.

The request has been made by Blood Centers of the Pacific, that if you are available to donate tomorrow, Sunday July 7th, you can do so at either the San Francisco Irwin Center or at the Millbrae Peninsula Center - there will be extra staff and appointments have been added to meet this critical need.

The demand for blood is always high on a holiday weekend, so all types are needed.

Please also consider donating blood through the American Red Cross at one of their fixed or mobile sites in the greater bay area. For information, see www.redcrossblood.org/

Stanford Blood Center is also an option. There now is a site in Menlo Park at 445 Burgess Drive. For more information see bloodcenter.stanford.edu.
