Atherton council wants to appoint new member; applications accepted until July 8

Atherton residents who want to serve their community at a high level of involvement -- and who have a solid store of tolerance for meeting attendance -- might consider applying for a short term on the City Council to see if the job suits them. Applications are being taken for residents interested in serving out the term of Councilman Jerry Carlson, who is resigning his position on July 1.

Clearly the most experienced council member Atherton has ever had, Kathy McKeithen, should be asked (begged) to take this seat for the remainder of failed council member Jerry Carlson's term.

There is simply no one more able or qualified to do this job, and handle the negotiations with the APOA, than Kathy McKeithen.

Instead of appointing Cary Wiest as vice mayor, that should have waited until Kathy came aboard (presumably, as mayor, given her seniority...Lewis should step aside) to weigh in on that issue.
