After not seconding Matt Grocott's Motion for a temporary delay on this vote, Mark Olbert stated that the reason he was going to vote yes, I wasn't here at the time but i talked to various people who were. It's my understanding that when Mr. Maltbie was hired into this position he was offered a significantly below market salary, both in terms of compensation and provision, I think part because he has never been a city manager before. and he had to prove himself. "but besides that i think it is a issue of integrity and maintaining the integrity of the negotiation process and the hiring process that's why I'm going to vote yes for it." and he got this idea from the various people that he claims he talked to, and yet the only other people who were on the council were Andy Klein, Omar Ahmad, Randy Royce. Bob Grasselli and Matt Grocott two of these 5 gentlemen are deceased, that leaves three. I can tell you one person who was there that he did not talk to was Matt Grocott. That leaves two potential , I'm not sure how you can claim two people equal various people and from this conversation with various people Mr. Olbert states as fact that Mr Maltbie was hired at a significantly below market salary which was $197,000 in 2011. Another point is the two remaining people were involved in closed door session and Mr. Olbert was not a council member at that time so I don't think they would be able to talk to him about this subject.
