Woodside budget shows 'structural' surplus

The town of Woodside's proposed budget would raise salaries across the board, initiate contributions by staff to their retirement accounts, and end the town's obligation to pay retirees' health care premiums for life.

Congratulations to the Town Council and the town managers for a job well done. This is a great example for other communities to follow.

I concur, Mr. Carpenter. Kudos to our Town Council and Town Manager for their fiscal competence and vision.

I realize that Woodside may not be representative of other municipalities but it is a positive development. I only hope other towns, cities, counties and states are paying attention.
