Pacifist, Kepler's legend Ira Sandperl dies at 90

Ira Sandperl, a well-known pacifist who worked for decades at Kepler's bookstore in Menlo Park -- from the 1950s into the 1980s -- died April 13 at his home in Menlo Park. He was 90.

Ira was a kind and gentle person. Kepler's was never the same after he retired.

I worked at SRI from 1956 - 1994. On our lunch hour we would drift over to Kepler's, where Ira would be working. Often Joan Baez would be there, strumming her guitar and singing. Ira was a good guy and he and Joan accomplished a lot to bring peace to the world. We will miss him.
